Legacy Priority Queue & MQC

Users in VLAN 30 and 40 are complaining about choppy video calls and audio drop outs. Configure R3 and R4 so that RTP traffic is given absolute priority over all other traffic.

Three approaches:

1 – Legacy Priority Queue:

What we need to match:
R3(config)#access-list 101 permit udp any any range 16384 32767  – match rtp traffic

R3(config)#priority-list 1 protocol ip high list 101  – high priority queue match rtp traffic
R3(config)#priority-list 1 default normal   – normal priority queue match everything else

Apply:
R3(config-if)#int s 0/0
R3(config-if)#priority-group 1

2 – MQC

What we need to match:
R3(config)#class-map RTP
R3(config-cmap)#match protocol rtp

R3(config)#policy-map PRIORITY
R3(config-pmap)#class RTP
R3(config-pmap-c)#priority 500

Apply:
R3(config-if)#service-policy output PRIORITY

3 – IP RTP PRIORITY :

R3(config)#int s 0/0
R3(config-if)#ip rtp priority 16384 16383 500

IP RTP PRIORITY FRAME RELAY :

R3(config)#map-class frame-relay RTP
R3(config-map-class)#frame-relay ip rtp priority 16384 16383 500
